The Hand colored photograph is almost as old as photography itself.. hand colorists practiced their art throughout China, Japan, India as well as the Western World as early as the 1850’s. Russell’s oil colors on sepia toned images are done with a uniqueness that has become a trademark.

For the Southwestern Classics part of my work, the original photographs are black and white, the subject matter is often of places along the Old Route # 66 as it meandered through the Southwest, as well as classic plant life and western memorabilia.
Russell's images are offered in Limited Edition Archival Prints and Museum quality Fine Art Miniatures.
